The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles (2021) Review

The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles (2021)
My Rating: 💎💎💎💎½ (4.5/5)
Genres: Adventure
I remember buying this game on day one in 2021. As a big fan of the Ace Attorney series, I had already played all of the localized ones. So after the Great Ace Attorney games were announced, I was so hyped and purchasing this game was a no-brainer. Also, this game contains two games which were previously released in Japanese only, and each game has 5 cases, so there are a total of 10 cases, which is great!
I played for ~45 hours until I finished chapter 6. I remember that I really enjoyed the experience. But somehow, for an unknown reason (maybe I was just too busy with office work), I stopped playing. That is until one of my friends told me that he had recently finished this game and highly recommended it. So yeah, after a ~5 year break (lol), I resumed my playthrough from chapter 7 and just recently finished it up to the last chapter in ~25 hours. I didn't regret it at all, especially when I played the last cases. It feels like the build-up story from the first chapter finally paid off.
I liked the great graphics (especially compared to Ace Attorney 1-3, lol), and the fun characters, especially Herlock Sholmes (this is the real character name, no pun intended) and Lord Baron van Zieks, who is a very cool prosecutor with a great background story. Story-wise, the first two chapters are not really good, but after starting the third chapter, things start to get exciting.
One point that I didn't like is that most of the cross-examination phases require the player to press some of the witness statements until they reveal the truth, and only then can we pinpoint the contradiction. It feels like the game tried to extend the gameplay time with some unnecessary filler.
Overall, I really enjoyed my time playing this game. I regret that I didn't finish it in 2021. I can't wait for a brand new Ace Attorney game in the future. Until then, I am still waiting for Ace Attorney Investigations to go on sale, so I can play the only Ace Attorney game which I haven't finished yet.
